Pool Opens

Well the school year is coming to a close Max only has 9 more days of 1st grade and then it's on to summer camp. In Max's school they have reading baskets and Math baskets and the farther you get in these baskets the more advanced the subject matter gets. Max has some ultra competitive gene and has tracked not only his progress but can name all the students and what Math and Reading basket they are currently on. He pays special attention to two girls who are head and shoulders a head of the rest of the class. He is in constant pursuit in his attempts to catch them. While it looks at last as if he is going to fail in this quest, I have to say he has been driven to learn and I feel he is going to be a pretty good student. On a side note he managed to obtain the phone number for one of these two girls earlier in the year. I asked him if he was going to call her and he looked at me like I was an idiot and said no.

I took the day off to see Jake play indoor soccer on Friday, he did a great job, I brought my camera but unfortunetly left the memory card at home so no pictures. He signed up for a second session and should be in good form for outdoor soccer this fall. He has come a long ways since the first practice I witnessed earlier this year. He works hard and comes off the field a steaming ball of sweat. When his teams scores he gets excited and chears the loudest. He has not shown the competitive fire Max's seems to have but perhaps it is because this is the first year he has been put in a competitive situation. He's definitly not that into T-ball, I think it's because there is a lot of standing around.

The community pool opened this weekend, we bought our pool pases on Friday and were at the Pool all day Monday. It seems it got hot quick hear. Vangie is only working two days a week this summer, I think she is planning on spending a lot time at the pool. Here is a shot of the boys on the first day.

Party, Music & Tonsils

So we had a back yard bash with our neighbor this weekend and it seemed to go rather well. We were expecting about 35 adults and 38 kids. Lot's of kids showed up. Max chased around a girl from his class all evening. Jake dug in the dirt under our deck with his trucks with a budy of his and believe it or not late in the evening I busted out the Kareoke machine and Vangie refused to perform! Usually when we have get togethers Vangie goes and well lets just say she has a special vocal talent for making everyone else feel more comfortable about singing.

I paid Jake a quarter to get him to let me take this picture. Jake went to the doctor today and he has to have his tonsils out. He is scheduled to go under the knife on August 9th. We were unable to have it done sooner due to vacations scheduled for July. We are going camping one weekend and then later in the month heading to my parents in Sonoma.

Max also had a musical tonight. The lighting was bad and I could not get a good picture of him. If you can make out the Piano he is on the ground attempting to play a xylophone type thing. The musical was for the first and second graders and they did a very good job singing. Vangie cried as it seems Max is growing and getting older so quick.k.

Mothers Day

Aparently when you are very small it appears to you that your mother is all legs. That's the only reasonable explanation I have for the above piece of Mothers Day art by Jake. I think Vangie had a pretty good Mothers Day. We got up did the church, brunch thing and than out to the stores where she shopped till me and the kids dropped. Then we went home and she tried on clothes for us. Then she went back to the store and we haven't seen her since. She just called to advise me to shuck the corn for dinner so I better get going. Happy Mothers day to all you other Mothers out there.

A Picture by Max

Max made a picture at school. I thought it was pretty cool. I asked him the title of the picture and he said its called "red sox's".
