Still Alive

We were told that if you encounter bears in the camp you are to make as much noise as possible to scare them away. We are lucky enough to travel with two professional noise makers. The people staying in tents near to us may not have felt as lucky. Jake is a loud talker and an early riser which was quite unfortunate for those staying in the tents close to us. Max can be just as loud and noisey.

We saw Yosemite Falls and Bridalveil falls. We hiked to the foot of El Captain and stared up at the climbers. We stood beneath the towering Sequoias in the Mariposa Grove and swam in the Merced River. Jake found it was much more difficult to do upside down handstands in a river than in our local community pool. Max who has recently discovered soda talked us into buying him a rootbeer at the Ahwahnee Hotel where we believe some scenes were filmed from the movie the Shinning. Here are some pictures from our trip.

Padres 6 - Giants 5

It's been real hot in Sonoma and San Francisco, we went to the ballgame yesterday with Grandpa. We had lemonade and Snow Cones to keep us cool. Jake kept leaning forward in his seat and then leaning back only to find that his back rest had become too hot. So I would switch seats with him lean back and cool the seat only to find twenty minutes later he had the same complaint. We switched back a forth a few times before we rode the giant coke bottle slide out by the bleachers. Today we are off to Yosemite to camp for a few days. My parents friends have been telling us stories of bears which is frightening Vangie. Wish us luck, If we survive the bears I will update with photo's Thursday.

Douthat State Park

We went camping for 3 nights at Douthat State Park with our cousins and friends. We had 6 adults and 9 children. Despite the constant chaos we had a good time. We did some hiking, swiming, boating and a little bit of fishing. Their Uncle threw in a line and he caught one Crappie fish. We threw it back. In reviewing the park rules, I noted there was a 25 Crappie fish limit. I'm not sure if Crappie is good eatin. We decide not to find out based on the theory of "you are what you eat." Besides all three Mom's had packed stuff for smores.

Mom & Dad Pictures

My Grampa & Grandma met in Uivar in Romania. This is also where Frank and Kunigunda lived. Frank's father lived in a town called Bega St. George. His name was Anton. We have not been able to trace the family roots back far enough to determine when the first Unti settled in the region. I have been unable to come up with any information on the town of Bega St. George. Uivar is in the Banat region of Romania next to Transylvania. This is the house in Uivar which my Grandmother grew up in. She used to say that every night the cows would walk through town coming home after being in the fields grazing all day. Sure enough there was a cow walking by the house when my father came to visit. Not sure how the cows know when or how to get home they just do. This is my Dad on the other side of my Grandma's house. My Grandmothers Maiden name was Winter.
