The Toxic Deck

Haven't posted in a while. Been busy painting the deck and mowing the lawn. Seems like we have had a wet spring. The grass is growing fast and I push mow the lawn. Vangie says I should get a riding mower but this is the only exercise I get. So I am going to keep pushing. I can't wait until mid-August when the lawn turns brown because of the heat and I only have to mow every other week. Managed to paint the deck in between rain drops. Again I choose to do things the hard way by forgoing a paint sprayer. Rolled the top and painted each individual spindal by hand. The birds have already crapped all over it.

The deck was yellow but now it is eucalyptus. I voted for a color called Curry. Vangie hated that color so we went with her choice. I pretended I loved it but it really just looks like the color of cement to me. Vangie makes me paint the deck frequently so that the toxins in the pressure treated lumber don't kill us. The first year I painted the deck I had to wash it first with a highly toxic deck wash which I am sure I inhaled plenty. This year Vangie made me use a non-toxic "green" cleaning product which really sucked. I highly recommend always using the most toxic chemicals on the market if you can talk your spouse into it. In my opinion they are far more effective.

Then I slathered on the highly toxic stain to the deck. I got it all over me which I'm sure can't be healthy. In the end the deck looks good and the family is once again free to sit on the deck without the fear of being infected by the evil pressure treated lumber.

With all this paranoia about toxins it's not surprising Jake drew the following picture of Vangie:

Notice the crazy eyes and big hands and what's up with the dreadlocks? I'm not sure this is a good look for her. I like the short orange dress though.

Shortly I will have another update on the baseball season as it has drawn to conclusion. Vangie and the kids are heading to California next week. I will catch up with them near the end of the month. I am sure we will have some great pics to share from the trip.

Until then you'll find me in my free time lounging on the not-so-toxic deck.
