Pollywogs!
As an educational thing Vangie got the guys some tadpoles to watch turn into frogs. These things were mail order and I am shocked they lived through that ordeal. Now if they can only survive Vangie, Max and Jake it will be another miracle. If they last through summer I swear I will free them but I am not holding out much hope. Vangie gets nervous when they start to come to the surface, she says it's too soon and pokes them back down. I am certain when no one is looking Max and Jake are also doing their fair share of poking. Interest should die off shortly. To my knowledge no one has bothered to give these creatures names, which may also say something about the rest of the family's views on their life expectancies.
