Grand Daddy's Birthday

We went down to Maryland to celebrate Vangie's father's birthday. We went out to lunch and then we took the kids over to Dick's sporting goods. It was a very large Dick's sporting goods and Max made it a point to tell anyone who would listen that it was in fact the biggest Dick's he had ever seen. I will unfortunatley laugh at almost anything which sounds slightly inappropriate. As evidence please refer back to the Uranus posts of nearly a year ago.

At the back of the store there was a giant climbing wall. Jake really wanted to climb the wall. Max was lukewarm on the idea. The line was long but we waited it out and the kids both got their chance. Deciding whom should go first led us to a very strategic decision. We knew that Jake is our wildman and he was going to be fearless. I did not know how far Jake would make it up the wall but however he did it would provide motivation for Max. Max is not a risk taker but he is a fierce competitor. He does not like to lose. If we play catch in the back yard he gets very upset with himself if he drops a few balls. We knew that there is no way Max would let Jake go higher on the wall them himself. So we decided to let Jake go first.......

Jake climbed and climbed and made great progress. I ran up to the second floor and took the following picture of him.

Jake made it all the way to the top and rang the bell. Next up was Max, I knew he would not let his brother be the only one to make it up the wall. Max climbed right up the wall too. I took this picture from the second floor as well.

When Max got down he was very excited he made it up the wall. He later admitted he was motivated by his younger brother.
