School Starts
Well it's that time of year, school is about to start. All the mothers in the neighborhood start calling around to find out who is in who's class. Then we have the back to school nights where the parents meet the teachers. Jake had to go to an instructional bus riding orientation thing. Then the kids go and meet the teachers.Tomorrow is the day Jake starts in the public school system. He is in afternoon kindergarden. Max is an old pro at starting school he knows all the kids in his class and is starting second grade. Jake is a little scared but he will know a few kids in his class. He went and met his teacher and I am hoping things go well.
I never did blog the tonsil surgery, but two weeks ago Jake had them out. Jake is a strong willed individual and when things don't go his way he gets a little upset. Well they braced us for what would happen after the surgery. The nurse told us that when he woke up we would be called and we should expect him to be crying as he would be in a little pain but mostly confused and disorientated.
Well we were called back to the recovery area after the surgery only to find Jake standing on the bed sourrounded by four nurses. He was screaming for his mom. He had ripped out his I.V. and blood went on his pillow face and smock. When his mother entered the room he jumped in her arms. A nurse passed me on the way out and said to me "that boy is a wild man." I've since heard other stories of children going ballistic after surgery so I am gathering it's not that uncommon.
Jake recovered well and the only issues we had was breaking from the all ice cream/soft food diet. Jake also had another milestone this weekend when he learned to ride his bike with no training wheels. He picked it up really quickly. In fact the first time I got him going he kept yelling at me to let go. Little did he know I had let go about thirty yards back and was simply doing my best to chase after him in case of a crash.
It's also soccor season for the next couple months, which means Jake has soccer on Monday and Wednesdays and Max has Soccer Tuesdays and Thursdays. They will both have games on Saturday which means the only soccer free days are Friday and Sunday. I am also an assistant coach for Max's team. Between Soccer, School and homework we're going to be very busy.
More and more it seems like the year revolves less around January first and more around the first day of school. Best of luck to all of you in the up-coming year.
