Boy Scout Camp

Been a busy two weeks, Max has had All Star baseball practice almost every night for two hours. Jake and Max have been going to soccer camp during the day. This week Max has baseball camp every day for three hours. I'll have pictures of baseball stuff soon.
This past weekend was Partner and Pal weekend up at the Boy Scout camp. Max and I went up Friday night and came home Sunday morning. We camped in tents. Max's days are pretty packed at camp. Max earned his BB gun belt loop and his archery belt loop. He is also working on his fishing belt loop.
Jake got to stay home with Mom and eat bagels and visit a restaurant with lots of video games called the Colleseum. Jake loves bagels. Him and Mom had a good time playing at the pool. Jake will be a Tiger and join the boyscouts with some of his friends in the fall. Here is Jake playing on the slip and slide.

Here are some more pictures of Max at camp:
Max in his new uniform. He is no longer a Wolf but has moved on to become Bear.

Learning to shoot a bow and arrow was frustrating for many of the guys in his den. It was tough for Max too but he said it was his favorite activity.
Still trying to get back and get pictures of the Camel. Vangie got me a cell phone for my birthday with a camera so now I will never miss a shot. Also I think the frog and tadpole are still alive. I am convinced something is wrong with that tadpole that won't evolve. He grew legs but that's it. Jake claims that one is Max's. Still no names. How they have lasted this long is beyond me. I think they get ignored for days at a time before we throw them a cricket. They can't last much longer.
Go Jake Go.....

Jake had an amazing last T-ball game. He fielded two ground balls while playing the position he likes to call "Pitchers Mountain" and threw the ball to first. The amazing thing was that they were caught by the first baseman in the air and the runner was thrown out. It was only the second and third time I'd seen this happen all year. It's amazing how far all the kids came this year. There were challenging moments but I had a really good time. Attention span is the issue at this level, baseball can be slow. Gotta keep the kids from playing in the dirt and focused on the game. The last couple games of the season we did really well. One game collectively we got 7 outs in four innings.

Jake getting ready to slug one and me getting ready to be hit by a thrown bat. I always tell em "swing hard - you never know when you might hit something." I should have added or someone.

Here Jake, AKA "Mr. Sunshine" is getting ready to perform in the Kindergarten spring musical. I know school is getting ready to end when we start attending the spring musicals. I am lucky enough to have a preview of all the songs as the kids sing them non stop around the house for several weeks prior to the concerts. This year Jake had a starring role as the sun when they sang Zippity du da. As you can see Jake had the sun backwards when he first got up on stage.

All the kids in his class started yelling "turn it!" So he did like a steering wheel on a large sailboat he started turning it clockwise with the white side still facing up. Lucky for him a nearby teacher got things turned around and he did a wonderful job marching left to right across the stage singing the song.
Soccer and T-ball have come to an end as well as school. This coming week the kids start summer camp. Lots of fun to be had and no more homework!
P.S. - I drove by a farm and saw a camel yesterday. Yes a camel in Central PA, stay tuned I'm going back for pictures.
Max Unti Lands On DL

On a hot summer day in Pennsylvania Max Unti found himself playing first base for the Upper Allen Purple Panthers. In the bottom of the second with two runners on the batter hit a ground ball to the second base. Max had to reach back toward home plate to make the grab but the runner was quick and reached the base at the same time as the throw. In the collision Max had his glove hand bent backwards and hit the dirt. The coaching staff rushed to his aid and he was escorted from the field to a nearby tree. After the inning he returned to the bench but failed to bat in the third before returning in the game for the fifth and sixth innings. He managed to Leg out a single in the fith and hit into a fielders choice in the sixth. The highlight of the game was a blast he drove to right center in the top of the second that scored two runs.

After the game Max obtained treatment from the trainer (Mom) which conisted of children's Tylenol and a bath. He later complained of pain in the wrist that evening and again on Sunday morning. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for x-rays which came back negative for broken bones. He was diagnosed with a sprained wrist and has been ordered by the doctor to cease althletic activity for one week. The two sport star will be missing in action when his soccer team the Blue Demons play this afternoon. Try outs for the Baseball Allstar Team are scheduled for next Saturday however Max's status for this event are now officially listed as doubtfull. One can only hope that the firey speedster will recover quickly.
