Max Is Eight Today

Eight years ago today Maxwell John Unti was born. His mother went into labor and we went to the hosiptal. I remember telling her to breath and do all that stuff in class and she made it quite clear to me she wasn't interested in breathing at all. Also I was not allowed to look at her during contractions but I was not to make it obvious that I was not looking at her. I remember Vangie's friend Erica who was pregnant at the time also coming to the hospital because she wanted to know how much pain exactly that Vangie was in. I also remember that after being in labor all night long Max was finally born and I was told I was not allowed to sleep because Vangie was so excited she wanted to speak to me all about it. She fell asleep five minutes later and so did I.
Max, Jake, Vangie and three of Max's friends went to Ski Round top and went tubing this afternoon. We had a great time. I was suprised at how brave Jake was. He went down the hill which was pretty steep lying on his belly. The lines were long but we had a great time. So did all the guys. In fact I had pretty good time myself.
Here's the crew after a few runs. They all did great. I thought it would be more difficult than it was to keep them organized and going down the slopes. After one run down they were all pros and didn't really even need me. Except maybe to give them a push down the hill.
Max lost his other big front tooth. Just when he got used to holding the spit in his mouth without the one tooth the other goes. He now makes a constant slurping sound. I am convinced he produces more siliva than the average child.
Max got a guitar for his birthday. We are going to sign him up for lessons and hopes he becomes a famous rock star and retires his Mom and Dad to someplace warm. Winter finally hit Pennsylvania last week and the kids are excited because school has been closed and there has been lots of sledding and winter fun.
